Vampire Weekend
The best underground band of 2007, and one of the best albums of the same year. Here's a three-song sampler:
Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Vampire Weekend - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
Vampire Weekend - A Punk (The song from the beginning of Step Brothers.)
As reviewed by me in Detroit's Metro Times:
It isn’t the pop-harmony style, reminiscent of the Rascals, that make indie pop foursome Vampire Weekend special. And it isn’t the literate, new wave edge owing to Elvis Costello and Paul Simon that stands out, though it’s nice to hear a garage band owing to someone other than the Clash or the Who. No, it’s the who’d’ve-thunk-it Afro-pop syncopation that helped the band land their single “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” on Rolling Stone’s list of the best songs of 2007. Influenced by the three-chord percussion of a timeless African drum sound, they fuse Brit-rock with a clean-cut, upper-class sound (well, they did go to Columbia University) and even add some woodwinds. Don’t be confused by the sweaters or polos, these guys can play.
Enjoy the tunes.

Rap Pack and the Grammy's
If the four most charismatic - dare I say swagger-havin' - emcees in the rap world don't get you excited about the state of hip hop...
... maybe all four of them - Jay-Z, T.I., Lil' Wayne and Kanye West - on one stage, dressed as a modern day Rat Pack does.
Hell, if that doesn't do it, maybe Kanye's Lionel Ritchie haircut did..
Either way, here's their Grammy night blitz, with a very pregnant M.I.A. performing "Swagger Like Us" on her due date. Enjoy.

(If not, here's Lil' Wayne and Robin Thicke with a tribute to the city - New Orleans - that spawned nearly all of popular music, American rock and roll, blues, rap, jazz, and syncopation, and the "George Bush hates black people" gem.
Off of Tha Carter III. "Tie My Hands" live at the Grammy's.

John Rich [Big & Rich] - Another You
My first post with some actual music (expect much more):
This is John Rich (the little half of Big & Rich), the soft voice and songwriting talent of "Lost in This Moment." Not to mention "Sunshine and Summertime" (Faith Hill), "Come Crying to Me" (Lonestar), "Hicktown," "Amarillo Sky" and "Johnny Cash" (Jason Aldean).
This is his new single from his upcoming solo album, Son of a Preacher Man (borrowed from the title of the 1968 Dusty Springfield folk hit). Titled "Another You," it was followed by "Shuttin' Detroit Down," a protester lamenting the economic conditions in the motor city.
Enjoy.

i am music
My purpose:
(with a little help from rapper Common):
You can feel me all over alive,
I help culture survive,
I opened the eyes of many
Styles y'all wrote in the skies,
with your lows and highs,
open your mind to hear me
Wherever I go I create the setting
You know me from lessons or your pops collections
Whether whole or half stepping I'm a blessing
Yo I am music
